New Delhi: Assembly elections are about to begin in UP from February 10, but the havoc of Corona’s uncontrollable pace continues in the state. In such a situation, Kanpur, one of the most populous districts of the state, has imposed new restrictions in view of the increase in daily COVID-19 cases.
Kanpur District Magistrate Vishak G Iyer while talking to news agency ANI said, “With the number of active COVID-19 cases crossing the 1000 mark in Kanpur on Tuesday, the district administration has imposed new restrictions.” “Gyms and swimming pools have been closed with immediate effect. Restaurants and food joints will be allowed to operate at 50 per cent capacity,” Iyer said.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh recorded 11,089 fresh COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, taking the number of active cases in the state to 44,466, while five more deaths took the total death toll to 22,937.
“One death each has been reported from Meerut, Moradabad, Kanpur, Gonda and Azamgarh,” an official statement said. In the last 24 hours, 543 COVID-19 patients have recovered from the infection, the statement said. The total number of cured people has increased to 16,89,526.
A total of 2.05 lakh samples were tested for the presence of COVID-19 in the last one day.
