The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Wednesday that cold wave conditions are likely to prevail over parts of North India, including Punjab and Rajasthan, for the next few days. Meanwhile, under the influence of a fresh Western Disturbance, some areas of the country are also likely to receive heavy rainfall in the next few days.
Two fresh Western Disturbances are very likely to affect Northwest India, with the first one likely to receive scattered rainfall on 16 and 17 January. After this, light/moderate scattered rain is very likely to occur over Western Himalayan region and adjoining plains after 18th.
Cold wave conditions:
Cold wave is very likely to occur at isolated places over Punjab, North Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh during the next 48 hours. Meanwhile, dangerous cold weather is very likely to occur over some parts of West Madhya Pradesh and isolated parts of East Madhya Pradesh during the next two days. At the same time, the weather is very likely to remain cold at isolated places over the state of Gujarat during the next 24 hours and over Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh and North Rajasthan during the next two days.

On January 13, there is a possibility of heavy rainfall at isolated places in Odisha. Apart from this, widespread to moderate rainfall is very likely over Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal and Sikkim, Telangana and Coastal Andhra Pradesh during 12th to 14th. At the same time, there is a possibility of light/moderate rain/snowfall in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on January 12.
On 12th and 13th, widespread rainfall is very likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura and on 14th and 15th January, isolated rain is likely to occur over the region. Scattered light/moderate rain with lightning is very likely over Chhattisgarh and West Bengal and Sikkim on 12th to 14th January and to Odisha on 13th January and Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh during 12th to 14th January.
