In a report published in Medical Mycology Case Reports, the consultant of Apollo Multispeciality Hospital says that when the patient came for treatment, he was having persistent cough, hoarseness in voice and tiredness. He was struggling with this problem for the last 3 months.
Experts say, the risk had increased after the infection as he was unable to swallow anything as there was severe swelling in the throat. The exact date when he got infected could not be ascertained. If the treatment is not available at the right time, then the risk of life increases due to the wind pipe being affected.
How was the treatment?
To treat the patient, he was given antifungal medicines for two months. Surgery had to be done to eliminate the pus. According to the report of DailyMail, the sample of pus taken from the patient has been sent to the World Health Organization. Researchers doing research on this matter have named the disease as Chondrostereum purpureum. In the research done so far, it has been revealed that this disease occurring in plants can also infect humans. Presently the patient has become infection free.
