ministers taking oath
There is a stir today in Himachal Pradesh, one of the three states where the Congress Party is in power. Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu is expanding his cabinet today. Today two MLAs will take oath as ministers in the Sukhu government. MLA Yadvendra Goma from Jaisinghpur assembly constituency of Kangra district and Rajesh Dharmani, MLA from Ghumarwin assembly constituency of Bilaspur district, are going to become ministers today.
The swearing-in ceremony of both will take place at Himachal Pradesh Raj Bhavan today afternoon. For this, the Chief Minister has called both the MLAs to Shimla. After this cabinet expansion, there will be 11 ministers in the Himachal Pradesh cabinet including the Chief Minister. However, the post of one minister will still remain vacant. A maximum of 12 ministers can be made in the state.

Will the department also change?
However, it remains to be seen whether there is only expansion in the cabinet or there are changes in the departments of the already appointed ministers on the basis of their report cards. If any minister or his department is changed then it is obvious that it will have an impact on the politics of the state. Keeping in view the next Lok Sabha elections, it is possible that the Congress Party may take aggressive steps in this direction.
Congress government was formed in 2022
Elections were last held in the state in the year 2022. Then in the 68-seat assembly, the Congress Party had won 40 seats while the Bharatiya Janata Party was reduced to 25 seats. On December 11, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu took command of the state. Before him, the Chief Minister of the state was Jairam Thakur of Bharatiya Janata Party. If we look at the date of Sukhu’s oath, the cabinet is being expanded exactly after one year.
