Elections are going to start in five states of the country in separate months. In such a situation, the voter ID card, which is said to be the most important for casting vote, is going to be important. At the same time, there are also some apps, which can be helpful for a voter in elections. Every citizen of India must have a Voter ID card to exercise his right to vote in the election. It is an identity proof authorized by the Government of India and provided to people above the age of 18 years and serves as an important proof of identity.

A voter ID card is issued by the Election Commission of India (EC) and carries a unique serial number, photograph, a hologram with the national emblem and other important details. A person can apply for Voter ID card through online and offline mode to get listed in the voter list. Ordinary Resident Voters, Service Electors and Foreign Voters can apply for Voter ID Card.

If you want to apply for voter ID card, you must ensure that your name is present in the voter list. If your name is missing from the voter list, you can apply online on nvsp.in website for both your card and your name.

Phase 1: If you are in the voters’ list for the first time, you will have to fill Form 6. This form has to be filled even if you have changed your constituency. For any correction in Voter ID card, Form No. 8 has to be filled. If a voter has changed or shifted his/her constituency, fill Form 8A.

Phase 2: Now, you have to select your desired language and other important details which are required. Upload all the relevant documents while filling the form.

step 3: Check every single detail you have uploaded. Now, you will receive a confirmation e-mail with the help of which you can track voter ID application status. Normally, it takes 30 days for the Voter ID card application to be processed and issued.

In the document, you can also attach a passport size photograph, an identity proof such as Aadhar card issued by UIDAI, PAN card, driving license, birth certificate, high school mark sheet. Along with this, proof of address can also be given through ration card, electricity bill etc.

Talk about these apps

In view of the elections, some apps have been prepared for the convenience of the voters. Among them is the CVIGIL App, through which voters can complain about the candidate violating the election code of conduct. Apart from this, there is an Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballot System, through which voting can be done electronically online. If someone is unable to cast his vote, he can do so through this. While casting your vote, you will get PIN code and OTP on your mobile, which will keep your vote safe. Then there is PwD App, which can apply for Divyang Voter Wheel Chair and can go from home to polling station free of cost.
