new Delhi: In Goa, which has 40 assembly seats, the BJP has emerged as the single largest party in the state by winning 20 seats. BJP is just 1 seat away from majority, but it has got the support of Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) and 3 independent MLAs. BJP is preparing to form the government for the third consecutive time in the state. Despite this, the party has so far maintained suspense on its chief minister’s face.
Significantly, the term of the Goa Legislative Assembly is ending on March 16, but the BJP has not yet announced the name of the Chief Minister. Meanwhile, the internal discord between the BJP leaders in the state regarding the post of CM has come to the fore.
In fact, on Saturday, BJP MLA Vishwajit Rane suddenly reached to meet Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai. After this meeting, Pramod Sawant held a meeting with the party MLAs. It is being told that 17 out of 20 MLAs attended this meeting. Earlier, he has once again declared himself a candidate for the post of CM. However, in the elections, Sawant was able to save his seat by a margin of 666 votes.
Meanwhile, Divya Rane, wife of Vishwajit Rane, who won from Parvem assembly seat, published a full-page advertisement in Goa’s Marathi-speaking newspaper Lokmat on Sunday. Out of which Pramod Sawant’s face is missing and it is written in that poster.
‘Never like this in the history of Goa, since the inception of the state of Goa, it has not happened that a candidate can win any party by a margin of 13 thousand 943 votes. BJP candidate from Parvem Divya Vishwajit Rane has achieved this record, women power has emerged.
It is being told that Vishwajit Rane has expressed his desire to become the CM in front of the party high command. After the death of Manohar Parrikar in the year 2019, Vishwajit Rane had presented his claim for the post of CM, but he had to be satisfied with the post of Health Minister.
