UP: Case registered against two and a half thousand SP workers for violating COVID protocol

Lucknow: On Friday, a large crowd gathered in the program of many MLAs, including Swami Prasad Maurya, who resigned from the post of minister in the Uttar Pradesh government, to join the Samajwadi Party (SP), considering it a violation of the COVID-19 protocol, on the instructions of the Election Commission. An FIR has been registered with the police against 2,500 SP workers.

In this case, on the instructions of the Election Commission, the in-charge of Gautampalli police station has been suspended late on Friday night.

Lucknow Police Commissioner DK Thakur said that an FIR has been registered at Gautampalli police station in connection with the violation of COVID protocol in the SP office and the station in-charge has been suspended in this regard.

Sections 188 (violation of government instructions), 269 (spreading infection of disease), 270 (endangering the life of others by spreading infection) and 341 of the Indian Penal Code against 2500 SP workers on the complaint of Ajay Kumar Singh, sub-inspector of Gautampalli police station. Apart from (wrongful detention of a person), an FIR has been registered under the Disaster Management Act and Epidemic Act.

According to the statement issued by the government late on Friday night, ‘The Election Commission of India, taking cognizance of the report sent by the Lucknow District Magistrate, in the case of violation of the Model Code of Conduct issued in the context of the assembly elections in the backdrop of the COVID epidemic, the station in-charge Gautampalli Dinesh Singh Bisht has been directed to be suspended with immediate effect due to gross negligence in the discharge of duties.

Following this order, the station in-charge was suspended.

The Commission has directed the Assistant Commissioner of Police Akhilesh Singh and the Returning Officer of Lucknow Central Assembly Constituency, Additional Municipal Magistrate I Govind Maurya, to give an explanation in this regard by 11 am on January 15.

It is noteworthy that the sub-inspector has alleged in his Tahrir that on Friday, about two-and-a-half thousand SP workers had blocked the road by randomly parking vehicles on Vikramaditya Marg around the party headquarters and illegally gathered crowd in the SP office. .

It has also been said in the Tahrir that the activists were asked to clear the crowd with loudspeakers and people were asked to remove the vehicles, but to no effect. He has alleged violation of the election code of conduct and COVID protocol.

Administrative sources said that hundreds of workers were seen in the SP office, most of whom were not wearing masks. A senior administrative official said, “A team of district administration and police officials had gone there. At first sight, the COVID-19 norms were found to be violated. It was examined. After which the police registered the case.

When asked about the action taken in the matter, Lucknow District Magistrate Abhishek Prakash said that action is being taken according to the law.

Significantly, the Election Commission has banned public rallies, road shows and meetings in the five election states till January 15, citing the continuous increase in COVID-19 cases.

Let us inform that there is a steady increase in the cases of corona in UP. Talking about Lucknow, 2,510 cases have been reported on Saturday, which is 300 more than Friday.
