Former Zimbabwe cricketer Sinikiwe Mofu died at the age of 37. Husband Shepherd Makunura had also passed away a month ago.

A very painful news has come out from Zimbabwe. Former Zimbabwe cricketer and women’s coach Sinikiwe Mofu has died. Mofu was only 37 years old. The reason for Mofu’s death has not been revealed, but according to media reports, the player was at her home and suddenly she collapsed. After this he was taken to the hospital where he was declared brought dead. Sinikiwe Mofu’s name is taken with great respect in Zimbabwean women’s cricket. Zimbabwe The women’s team played its first international match in 2006 and Mofu was a part of it.
In December last year, a mountain of sorrows had broken on Sinikiwe Mofu. Her husband Shepherd Makunura died on 15 December. He was running ill for a long time. Mukunura was the fielding coach of Zimbabwe. Now Sinikiwe Mofu has also died and his two children have become orphans.
Mofu became the first female coach
Sinikiwe Mofu was born in Bulawayo on February 21, 1985. She was the first female player to become a player-coach. Under his coaching in the year 2020-21 season, the team of Mountaineers won the ODI Championship under his coaching. Last year she had taken the team to the finals and she was the runner up.
Under her tutelage as Head Coach, Mountaineers Women won the inaugural Fifty50 Challenge Zimbabwe’s provincial one-day championship for women in the 2020/21 season.

The cricket board there has expressed condolences on the death of this former Zimbabwean player. The Zimbabwe Cricket Board tweeted that Sinikiwe Mofu was an excellent coach and mother of two children. This is a very difficult time for his children and family.
