1. Disney Star’s flagship channel Star Sports 1 Hindi could only average 1782,000 weekly AMAs.
2. This is 10-12% less than Star Sports 1 Hindi in the league stage.
3. In comparison, Sun TV averaged 2553,000 weekly EMAs. Star MAA, Star Plus and even a movie channel by the name of Goldmines gave more viewership during the week.
IPL 2022 TV Ratings: The most shocking figures come when the data is compared with the last edition in IPL 2021.
IPL 2021 made Star Sports 1 Hindi the No. 1 channel on the same level and averaged 2732,000 weekly AMAs. The comparison clearly shows that the decline in IPL ratings for qualifiers and eliminator is in the range of 30-35% as compared to last year.

What is the industry saying on the drop in broadcast viewership for IPL 2022?
During IPL 2022, various stakeholders of the industry have raised concerns over the decline in TV ratings for IPL. Be it on-air brands, broadcasters who are potential bidders for IPL media rights or even on-ground brands – all are concerned with the situation.
Shashank Srivastava, senior executive director (marketing and sales), Maruti Suzuki India, has also been quoted by FE on the rating downgrade. According to Srivastava, Maruti went to the extent of discussing the compensation spot with Star Sports.
“In the first 25 matches of this season, if you look at our TG, who is male and is between the ages of 22 and 40, the TVR (television rating) decline is about 58% and the average viewership is about 30. much more than the decline. “We are in discussion with Star Sports to provide additional FCT (free business time) on live matches to meet the overall reach numbers and commitments,” Srivastava said.
