Afghanistan cricket team captain Mohammad Nabi has resigned after the team’s defeat in the T20 World Cup. Afghanistan were defeated by hosts Australia by 4 runs in their last match of Super-12. With this, the Afghan team was eliminated from the World Cup, finishing last in their group. Veteran all-rounder Nabi issued a statement after the loss to Australia in Adelaide on Friday 4 November and cited differences with the selection committee as the reason for his decision apart from the performance of the team.
After a strong performance in the Asia Cup, some exciting matches were expected from the Afghan team, which reached the World Cup. This could not happen. However, rain also played a big role in this, due to which 2 matches of Afghanistan were canceled. Only 2 points from these two matches could be added to Afghanistan’s account this time. However, in his last match, he had almost given water to Australia, but coming closer, the team missed the victory.
Differences between management and selection committee
Shortly after this World Cup performance, Mohammad Nabi issued a statement from his social media accounts and announced his resignation. Nabi said that the performance of the team for the last one year was not at the level which the captain expects in a big tournament. The prophet also wrapped the selection committee and said,
Not only this, the team management, selection committee and I were not unanimous in the last few tours, which also affected the team balance.

The veteran all-rounder wrote, “So, keeping everything in mind, I am announcing my step down from the captaincy with immediate effect and will be available to play for my country whenever the management and the team require me.”
frustration over rain
The prophet also referred to the matches being canceled due to rain and said that like the fans, he was also very disappointed with it. Thanking the fans, he said, I thank every fan who came to support us on the field despite the rain-affected matches and also those who were giving us love and support from all over the world.
