If Shivam Dubey performs well for the franchise in IPL 2024, he may be able to make a place in India’s T20 World Cup team.
IPL 2024: Aakash Chopra believes that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder Shivam Dubey can make it to India’s T20 World Cup squad if he performs well for the franchise in IPL 2024.
Shivam Dubey scored 418 runs in 14 innings in IPL 2023 at an average of 38.00 and strike rate of 158.33. However, due to the impact player rule, the seam-bowling all-rounder did not get a chance to show his hand last season and will not get many chances to bowl this year.
In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Chopra talked about the opportunities for some Chennai Super Kings players in IPL 2024.
Aakash Chopra said, “In my opinion, this is a big opportunity for Shivam Dubey as his name can come up for the World Cup. He first scored runs for India in T20 and then scored runs and also took wickets in Ranji Trophy. So he has a big opportunity.”
The former India opener said that this tournament also presents a great opportunity for Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ajinkya Rahane.
He said, “Rituraj Gaikwad has lost his place due to injury. This is also a chance for them for the World Cup. Ajinkya Rahane has not scored runs. So this is a big opportunity for them.”
Team India has attractive opening options for the T20 World Cup, but Gaikwad can stake his claim with an excellent performance in IPL 2024. Rahane has performed poorly in the Ranji Trophy and would like to do double. The explosive innings he played in the last season.
